A Sampling of Work from my 2011 Summer Cohort Session
Leadership and Life Long Learning Wiki
Mastering outreach by providing others with resources
It is clearly evident that technology can help more students access and connect with more of the content that you're working with, but it important that the skills that are being taught aren't dropped when students exit the classroom. Teachers who strive to use technology to help students their rooms, must also strive as leaders to help other teachers incorporate technology into their instruction as well so that students are being supported-no matter what the subject matter. This wiki (website) shows a "start" to everything: an annotated list of link that are vetted by myself and colleagues to help others (or yourself) start or continue their journey as an EdTech Teacher.
DreamIT Proposal
This was the culminating project for our time together in the Summer Cohort at Michigan State University. We were asked to identify a key issue that we find when teaching in our specific content area, and then devise a means of addressing the problem utilizing technology and applying the principals of TPaCK.
Ball Drop Video
|
For this project, we worked in our teams to test scientific law. Our mission was to find out where a ball will land when dropped from a standing, walking, and running position. This project helped to illustrate how technology can be used to really help students move from simply 'knowing' something, to really understanding it.

Behaviorism Presentation
For our examination of behaviorism learning theory in education, each group was assigned a particular aspect of behaviorism and asked to find free learning software that utilized these principals. Each group then had to create an engaging presentation. Our group created a Prezi that showcased how LiveMocha, a language learning program, uses 'prompting' and 'fading' to help students learn a variety of languages-and then we taught a little Italian :-)
Map Tools Wiki
Our group (Team Awesome-er) was commissioned with creating a wiki that provided an overview and review of five, free, online mapping tools in regards to educational purposes.
De-Motivational Posters
As a bit of fun, I have included here our De-motivational posters. This was one of our "quick-fire" challenges when we were thinking about learning, success, and motivation. While our group's poster is the featured image here, the link will take you to the class collection. Enjoy!
Tensions Photo Editing Activity
For this activity, we brainstormed as a class various "tensions" that are present in the field of education and then had to visually represent one tension, utilizing the photo editing software Pixlr. While my particular image (knowledge is rigid, knowledge is flexible) is featured here, clicking the title will take you to the group album.
Personal Learning Network
Classroom assignment where we had to visual represent our Personal Learning Network. Medium: Crayon on paper.
